A Whirlwind of First Experiences

I’ve just had my inaugural Mission trip, my maiden voyage to the Philippines, and my first visit to a children’s home at The Heart of Texas Children’s Home in Sorsogon City.
What followed was beyond anything I could have imagined. We tackled numerous projects around the children’s home, and, most importantly, forged unforgettable connections with the kids.

What struck me most was the kids unbridled joy. These children, despite their challenging pasts, radiated happiness. They laughed freely, smiled endlessly, and embraced life with a zest that was infectious. In the safe haven provided by the caring staff and each other, they thrived.

The moments we shared were nothing short of transformative. From spontaneous hugs to hand-holding, from shared smiles to heartfelt conversations, each interaction left an indelible mark on my heart. These children, who had endured unimaginable hardships, taught me profound lessons about resilience, hope, and the power of love.

As our time together drew to a close, I found myself already planning for the future.

I couldn’t shake the feeling that I wanted to come back, to continue building on these connections and experiences. I knew I wanted to keep in touch with the kids and the staff, to see how they grow and to support them in any way I could from afar.

Leaving was bittersweet, but I departed with a heart overflowing with gratitude and a newfound sense of purpose. This journey wasn’t just a one-time trip; it was the beginning of a lifelong commitment to these incredible children and the community that supports them.
